The In-Home Supportive Services program, or IHSS, was created in 1973 after years of advocacy by disability rights activists fighting for the right to live with dignity and independence in their own homes. IHSS allows low-income seniors, people with disabilities, and those who are blind to receive in-home care provided by someone they trust. Apply for IHSS here.
