District 2 County Representative

Angie Nguyen
District 2 County Representative

My name is Angie Nguyen and I am an IHSS provider in Orange County. I’ve worked as caregiver ever since my father got bone cancer in 2012. I left my job in insurance to care for him until the day he died, and now I care for three other seniors—my mom Anh, and my sister’s in-laws, Tong and Quy. My clients live with heart disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, glaucoma, lumbar spondylosis, and more. For 100 hours a month, I prepare meals, clean up after, shop for, and provide care for them, because I know how much more comfortable in-home care is for them than if they were in nursing homes.

That’s why I’ve also been an active UDW member since becoming an IHSS provider. I strongly believe that it’s important for providers like us to stand together, hand-in-hand, to protect the IHSS program for our clients and fight for better wages and benefits for care providers.

As County Representative, I want to work with other union members to strengthen the home care program and fight for health insurance for all IHSS providers who work over 80 hours per month. Because we’re worth it!
