Across the state, UDW members and our families are already being impacted by COVID-19. One member, in Kern County, is currently caring for her mother who is battling the virus, and worries every day about exposing herself or her children without access to masks and gloves. Another member in Stanislaus County is quarantined because a member of her household contracted COVID-19, so she can’t provide care for her clients and they now need a backup provider.
OUR STORIES NEED TO BE TOLD. Telling our stories is how we have been able to get Personal Protective Equipment for providers, to get our state and counties to implement emergency back up systems, and to make sure that caregivers are included in the federal CARES act, which will allow providers who are out of work to apply for unemployment or sick leave.
