Our “New Normal” – keeping safe from COVID-19

August 7, 2020

Don’t let “pandemic fatigue” make you drop your guard. The coronavirus is still spreading in our communities and is still a deadly threat. Take control of your life and your future during this pandemic by maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols.

  • Keep the virus away from yourself – Wear a mask, practice social distancing and wash your hands—and model safe hygiene practices for the IHSS clients and/or children in your care.
  • Keep the virus away from people in your care – Restrict visitors and make sure their surroundings are regularly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Keep your IHSS client home as much as possible – Avoid unnecessary trips into the community that increase the possibilities for your client to become infected.
  • If you’re a family child care provider, screen all staff, parents, and children for fever before entering the child care each day. Send home anyone who appears to be sick.
  • Limit your IHSS client’s visits with family and friends – It’s so hard to do, but social distancing saves lives.
  • Stay connected – Take the time to connect with friends and family through phone calls and video calls—and help keep your IHSS client connected, too!
